The 2022 general election season and subsequent political events have had physical impacts on youth and women, the majority of youth reported not being included in various positions as the female participants were significantly more likely to experience emotional responses, in Kajiado county no woman was elected in any political seat apart from the kajiado county women member of national parliament representative seat.

Young people’s trust in politics and in public institutions has suffered in recent years, and young women are no exception.

There are also differences by party identification and how connected a person is to the part that has made other youths to be locked out of the race hence unwanted leaders are elected to the positions. Young women who strongly identify with a political party are more likely to feel their voice matters in the political processes than those who don’t but they feel being betrayed and not allowed to lead the people in their respective areas.

For many young people, this distrust actually led them to want to participate in political life. That seems to be the case with young women, of whom strongly agreed that they are motivated to get involved in politics but political differences have made them lose the elective seat positions.

The differences in political perceptions and issue priorities may also be reflected in young women’s involvement in some of the social movements that have shaped the political landscape in the past few years but their voices have not been heard after the election.

Young women are generally more likely than young men to say they are active in social movements and in efforts to encourage their peers to speak, but some of the well-known people and politicians are using them for their gain and damn them after the election.
